About Me

Brodee Clontz

I'm Brodee, a Computer Science and Classics student with a passion for building software. I typically have the role of full-stack developer and focus on creating efficient, user-centered applications with modern technologies. My career so far consists of both collaborative and independent projects that have resulted in live websites and mobile apps. I'll graduate in May 2026 and am actively seeking opportunities for post-graduation.

Relevant Coursework: Data Structures & Algorithms, Computer Organization, Computer Networks, Machine Learning, Web Development, Databases, Computational Theory

My Projects

The Iliad Explorer

A digital portal to Homer's epic that brings ancient manuscripts to life. This was my first website, developed solo, it uses Julia on the backend with HTML/CSS/JS on the frontend. Features include:

  • Line Search
  • Quick Navigation
  • Scholarly Annotations Toggle
Julia Text Analysis Digital Humanities Furman Engaged
CarInfo

Worked in a team of four to develop a fun website for car enthusiasts! In this team I was one of two programmers, I worked closely with the HTML, Javascript, and Python. Features include:

  • Advanced filtering
  • Interactive image slideshow viewer
  • Fully responsive design
Python Web Development Data Visualization Team Project
Antigone Reader

A Classics students' best tool for reading Sophocles' tragedy, Antigone. As the only developer on this project I spent a semester learning React-Native and implementing what I'd learned. By the end of the semester I released this app to IOS.

  • Semantic search
  • Character speech pattern analysis
  • Word comparison
React Native TypeScript Text Mining Python SQL Released April 2025 on iPhone and iPad
Furman Now!

A tool for Furman students to stay on top of events, meals, athletics, and more! I worked under my professor, Dr. Sultan, to solve problems and create new features. By the end of the summer we created a platform for students to learn by working on this app in an open-source manner.

  • Bug fixes
  • Dependency updates
  • Backend Migration

Development Philosophy

User-Centered Design

I build with the end user in mind. Whether it's students researching ancient texts on The Iliad Explorer or 500+ daily users checking dining hall menus on Furman Now!, every feature starts with understanding real user needs. I prioritize intuitive interfaces and seamless experiences.

Clean, Maintainable Code

Code is read more than it's written. I prioritize readable, well-documented code that other developers can understand and extend. From migrating Furman Now!'s backend to building reusable components in React Native, I write code that lasts beyond the initial deployment.

Continuous Learning

Technology moves fast, and so do I. I taught myself React Native in one semester to build Antigone Reader. Now I'm diving into Rust and Tauri for desktop development. Every project is an opportunity to master new technologies and push beyond my comfort zone.
